Visual Description :
This is a rectangular painting of the coastline on lower Vancouver Island. The image shows a pointe of land jutting out on the right side in the middle of the picture plane. The Pointe is vegetated with bushes and trees, and has a building (Garrison) at the very tip. There is also a smaller building farther back on the pointe that has a flag pole next to it. The rest of the composition is of the Straight of Juan De Fuca and the olympic Mountains behind. The brushwork is fairly loose and soft and portrays the image in a simplistic style. The colors palette is composed of pink, blue, green, and umber in pastel shades which give it an overall soft atmospheric quality.
