Visual Description : Japanese Arita-kiln porcelain with underglaze blue decor to which a silver lid and a later wooden handle have been added. The silver lid has a raised cherub on it. The original piece has a small foot, with a bulging lower body. The lid is a dutch mould sent to Japan from Holland, for the Dutch market - 16th or 17th century. The original handle would have been porcelain.
